Courage looks like foolishness to gutless cowards
Kyle Rittenhouse put himself at risk for a moral purpose. He's a hero, not a fool.
Some say Kyle Rittenhouse lawfully defended himself, but they insist he only needed to because of his foolish recklessness. He's not a hero, they say, but a dumb kid who needlessly put himself in harm's way.
This is a terrible, inexcusable take. Here's why:
Rittenhouse wasn't putting himself at risk for a thrill, but for a moral purpose. His family's community had been handed over to a violent mob by the very people who had a duty to protect it. Rittenhouse (among others) stepped up to do their job for them.
To gutless cowards, courage of that sort can look a lot like foolishness. "Why are you running toward the danger?" ask spineless excuses for men. "You could get hurt!”
Rittenhouse asked himself a very different question: "How can I help protect my community?"
Putting oneself in harm's way for the sake of others is the very definition of heroism. And his young age makes his courageous action all the more impressive. It's astonishing, really. He's a far greater man than his sniveling critics. They're the fools for not seeing it.
The only verse most Christian men seem to understand is to “turn the other cheek…” Completely discarding Ecclesiastes 3 (there is a time to be silent. And a time to *speak up*. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for peace and a time for war)
The time to sit on your hands and do nothing is NOT ALL THE TIME. Incredible how weak many people are. Many are cowards hiding behind the veil of “muh principle”.
Well said Seth! I’ll take Kyle in my foxhole any day!
